Bendung krisis makanan SERDANG 27 Nov. - Kerajaan akan mengadakan kerjasama strategik untuk mewujudkan tapak pengeluaran makanan di luar negara sebagai salah satu usaha meningkatkan bekalan makanan Malaysia, kata Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. Perdana Menteri berkata perkara itu adalah antara langkah-langkah yang diambil untuk membendung kemungkinan berlakunya krisis makanan yang berpunca daripada kenaikan harga yang melampau dan kekurangan bekalan. "Misalnya tanaman padi, kita tidak mungkin dapat (menghasilkan) 100 peratus, kalau dapat 70 peratus pun sudah cukup. "Saya fikir kita boleh lihat kemungkinan untuk memajukan kawasan (pertanian) di luar negara kerana kosnya jauh lebih rendah berbanding kos menambah tanaman padi di negara kita," katanya.
